Art and You Slut! - Critical Meat Review
Here’s a gift from me to you, chaps:
Well now that’s out of the way expect to see more random shit drawings from me. Since I have nothing better to do than doodle and what not you might see this kind of stuff pretty frequently.
Now then onto a music review no one will care about.
Critical Meat by You Slut!
You Slut! is a four piece instrumental math-rock band from Derby/Nottingham. Critical Meat is their second release. Critical Meat is a fairly short album that is only about 25 minutes long. But it’s a nice 25 minutes.
The album is basically just a long jam session. Some songs have a chorus and everything, and some don’t. There’s a healthy mix of this kind of sturcture through out the album. The whole band is very audible and focusing on a specific instrument is not a chore.
The riffs and beats presented by You Slut! are enjoyable, not to mention catchy too. The band also changes tone quite frequently going from light and clean sounding to heavy and noisy sounding in minutes. This goes on though out the whole album and you can get lost in it, especially since almost every song flows into the next so well that you have to be paying attention to catch the transition.
The album is presented very nicely, very cleanly, and so on and so forth. Critical Meat is an album you can listen to over and over again and get to know like a good book. It’s deifinitly recommended for at least one listen through. I approve of this album and highly recommend it.
